How we compare software

Last updated September 2026

Every comparison on Worth It Stack follows the same documented process. We're publishing it here so you can judge our verdicts — and spot it if we ever cut corners.

The five things we score

1. Pricing transparency and real cost

We pull current pricing directly from vendor pricing pages and map what each tier actually costs at realistic usage levels — not just the headline "from" price. We specifically look for:

SaaS vendors change pricing frequently. Every article carries a "last updated" date, and we re-verify pricing on a regular cadence. When we publish, we note the verification date — and we always recommend confirming current pricing on the vendor's site before you buy.

2. Feature matrices from official documentation

We build side-by-side feature comparisons from official docs, changelogs, and help centers — not from marketing landing pages. Marketing copy says "AI-powered everything"; documentation says what the feature actually does and which plan it's on. We trust the docs.

3. Aggregated verified user reviews

We read reviews on established platforms (such as G2, Capterra, and Trustpilot) looking for patterns, not individual opinions: the same complaint appearing across dozens of reviews is signal; one angry review is noise. We pay special attention to reviews from businesses similar in size to our readers, and we note when review sentiment and marketing claims disagree.

We don't republish star ratings as our own scores. Aggregated ratings shift over time and across platforms, so we describe sentiment in words ("consistently praised for…", "recurring complaints about…") rather than inventing precision we don't have.

4. Use-case fit

There is no universally "best" tool — only the best tool for a specific situation. Every verdict is broken down by use case: team size, budget, technical comfort, and what you're actually trying to accomplish. A solo creator and a 20-person agency should get different answers, and our verdicts say so explicitly.

5. The honesty check

Before publishing, every article has to pass one question: did we claim anything we can't back up? Specifically:

What we don't do

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes — usually pricing that changed since our last check. If you spot an error, email hello@worthitstack.com and we'll verify and correct it, with the update date changed to reflect the fix.
